Got a LG G4 yesterday, having touch recognition issues.

Hey so I got an LG G4 yesterday and started noticing the screen not recognizing all of my touches, especially the double tap to wake and swiping from the edge of the screen. I have to tap twice very obviously, at a certain pace and deliberately hitting hard; otherwise it takes multiple tries to get it to work. Even then it's still not 100% accurate. I did get my first ever glass screen protector with it as the Telus employee recommended it so I'm not sure if it might be the cause? I don't want to peel it off as it was like and if I peel it off and it still doesn't work I'm out if I decide to return the phone.

I tried using an app someone recommended on here for changing the responsiveness of the screen to no avail. I also downloaded a touch testing app that definitely shows the missed touches all over the screen every few touches. I'm wondering if getting a replacement could solve my issue or should I be looking at choosing a different phone altogether?
