I am using HTC E8 and as snapdragon 801 supports HEVC playback on HW decoder, it is perfectly playable for mp4 videos. However, if the same video is encoded into a MKV format with all the encoding settings the same what so ever or just remuxed into a MKV, mx player just says HW decoder not supported, forced to use the sluggish SW decoder.
