Is there a better tether solution now with root?

I've been using FoxFi with my Verizon G4, but hate that it forces me to use a PIN or Password lock screen.

Now that we have root, is there a better way to tether (unlimited data) than FoxFi?

Would the trick to edit build.prop for no provisions work, similar to the Nexus 6?

I tried the WiFi Tether Router app, but couldn't get the hotspot to show up on my computer. :(
